Chicken Tragedies.. hospital births...and frustration

Guess what..... our poor little chicks.... have suffered a tragedy.... it seems that a coon or the likes managed to pry its way into our chicken coop...... and only 14 of the 37 survived.... (*sob*, *anguish*, *knashing of teeth*).... poor Christie....

My cousin Bree had her baby on Tuesday! She went into labor on Monday. Mom, Christie, and I went up (San Antonio) Monday afternoon. NEVER HAVE YOUR BABIES IN HOSPITALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (unless of course, its an emergency or health issue, but if that is not the case, there is no excuse)........... When she was 4 centimeters (10 cent is when the baby comes out) they gave her an epidural (a drug which causes her to lose all feeling from waist down) which slowed down the labor (even though the deceiving nurse told her it would do no such thing). If she hadn't taken it, she probably would have had the baby within 2 hours... but, no, the docters had to interfere! By 8:00 Tuesday morning, they had convinced her that the baby was 9 lbs 5 ounces (big baby), that her head was tilted back (they have to be tilted forward to birth), that she was way too high, and that the only thing left to be done was a C-section.... (EVIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) The baby turned out to be 7 lbs 1 ounce! And mom noticed (after she was "born") that her head seemed kinda pointed.... which means, THAT SHE WAS IN THE BIRTH CANAL WHEN THEY DID THE C-SECTION!!!!!!!! DECEIVERS!!!!!!!!!! (by the way, I've written a paper on home births vs. hospital births... if you want to know how I really feel). The C-section was at 10:00 AM .... and Bree didn't get to hold her baby til THAT NIGHT!!!!!!!!!! Those brutish medical staff. (Now don't get me wrong.... docters have their place, like when some boy falls off a cliff and breaks his back... but they have NO business delivering babies!!!!!!!!!!) Now Mommy and Baby are home... thank yall for praying....

The Saturday Quote

"Adventures are funny things. They may creep out of holes, appear down a seldom trodden path, fall out of a tree, or even arrive in an envelope, but they always start the same way. Adventures always begin with the unexpected.... Adventures are funny things, and they always begin with the unexpected, but the best adventures of all are the ones that never end." -The Door Within, Book 1

"Adventures are funny things. Some streak down upon you like a storm. Others emerge only when many years have passed and something forgotten is revealed. They can be discovered upon a dusty bookshelf or even the yellowed pages of an ancient map. They promise great reward. But no adventure is without risk.... Adventures are funny things. They offer dark, uncertain times, forks in the road, and choices between comfort and peril. And in such times, heroes can be made or undone." -The Rise of the Wyrm Lord, Book 2

"Adventures are funny things. Many are merely happy accidents - a single spark that ignites an unexpected chain of events. But some adventures are meant for you and you alone. And whether you want them or not, they seek you out of a great crowd and take you somewhere you never thought you'd go. Often, these unlooked-for adventures require a sacrifice too great to imagine.... Adventures are funny things. They always begin with the unexpected, but they always end with the promise of adventures yet to come." -The Final Storm, Book 3

John shot this gar on his fishing trip to Fayette county lake with Tommy last week.

This is why I was SO SORE last Sunday... I planted about 90 plants the day before.....

This is John and "Gertrude". She's a cutie we've tamed. No, this is not Cordelia.... We've gotten Gertrude to come in the house and eat out of our hands... she'll even climb all over us looking for nuts. Pretty cute.

This is my vision for the next Superchic[k] Album....

The Saturday Quote

"And therefore, though vicious times invert the opinions of things and set up a new ethics against virtue, yet hold thou unto old morality; and rather than follow a multitude to do evil, stand like Pompey's pillar, conspicuous by thyself and single in integrity. And, since no deluge of vice is like to be so general but more than eight will escape; eye well those heroes who have touched pitch, and not been defiled, and in the common contagion have remained uncorrupted." ~Sir Thomas Browne

Chit Chat

We went swimming today!!! Yes, twas cold. But our desire to swim overcame any common sense we may have had! It was so fun!!!

I spent the morning addressing invitations for my grandparents' 50th wedding anniversary in calligraphy.....extrememly boring...... as you can probably imagine. But they looked SO GOOD!!!

We got a new batch of chicks yesterday. 38 of them. Well, actually... now we only have 37... one, well, lets say she received a little too much "love." Now, I don't like chickens.... little dinosaurs, but my maternal insticts have kicked in, and I can't help but think them cute.

I must run.... I have to go feed the neighbors' animals while they're away. A very well-paying job :):):)
