The Princess Bride

"Are you kidding? Fencing, Fighting, Torture, Revenge, Giants, Monsters, Chases, Escapes, True Love, Miracles!"

This is one of the absolute best movies ever!!!!

But...... it gets better....

My wonderful new friend, Darby Sproul, recently enlightened me to the fact that.....

The Princess Bride......

IS A REAL BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course, as soon as this was revealed to me, I got it from the library, read it in two nights, and am pleased to announce that it is....

TEN TIMES BETTER THAN THE MOVIE!!!!!!!

Shocking isn't it? Some of you, I'm sure, can't imagine what could be better than the movie... but I say once again: IT IS SO MUCH BETTER!!!!!

Thus, I charge you all with responsibility of getting your hands, eyes, and mind to this book. If you don't want to get it from the library, give me a month and I'll own it.... (I'd buy it right now, but I want to make sure I don't find it at the SETHSA booksale...)

Oh, and it's by, "William Goldman".... I think... something to that effect.

Also, I must give warning to all that the introduction has some...er.. "un-christian" content, so skip all that garbage and start reading at "Chapter One: The Bride"

It is even more romantic! Can you believe it?

"Inconceivable!"

"As you wish"......... (*sigh*)

"I'm not saying I'd like to build a summer home here, but the trees are actually quite lovely"

"Let me put it this way: Have you ever heard of Plato, Aristotle, Socrates?" "Yes" "Morons"

"Move? You're alive! If you want, I can fly!'

Inigo: He's dead. He can't talk.
Max: Ooooohhh! Look who knows so much, eh! It just so happens that your friend here is only mostly dead. There's a big difference between mostly dead and all dead. Please open his mouth. Now, mostly dead is slightly alive. Now, all dead...well, with all dead, there's usually only one thing that you can do.
Inigo: What's that?
Max: Go through his clothes and look for loose change.... Hey! Hello in there! Hey! What's so important? Whatcha got here, that's worth living for? [Max pushes on Wesley's chest]
Wesley: True....love....
Inigo: True love! You heard him! You could not ask for a more noble cause than that.
Max: Sonny, true love is the greatest thing in the world; except for a nice MLT - mutton, lettuce and tomato sandwich - when the mutton is nice and lean, and the tomato's ripe. They're so perky. I love that.

"Mawwiage. Mawwiage is what bwings us togethaw today. Mawwiage, that bwessed awwangement, that dweam within a dweam.......Then wove, twue wove, will follow you fowever......Have you the wing?"

Inigo: He's climbing the rope....and he's gaining on us.
Vizzini: Inconceivable!....Faster!!
Fezzik: I thought I was going faster.
Vizzini: You were supposed to be this colossus, you were this great legendary thing and yet he gains!
Fezzik: Well, I'm carrying three people, and he got only himself.
Vizzini: I do not accept excuses! I'm just going to have to find myself a new giant, that's all.

"Bye bye, boys"
"Have fun storming the castle"
"Think it'll work?"
"It would take a miracle"
"Buh-bye!"

"Drop your sword" (OH YEAH!!!!!!)

"Since the invention of the kiss, there had been five kisses that were rated the most passionate, the most pure. This one left them all behind."

It looks too romantic for me. Sorry, but it just does not look like my kind of book. I guess it is fine for some people but not for me.

Oh, Brooke thank you for letting the world know about that incredible book!! Everyone, if you havn't read it you MUST but skip the introduction and maybe the
Buttercups baby part that some editions have at the end. btw, the real author is William Goldman not S. Morgenstern or whatever. Darby

It depends on if you like fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, true love, and miracles!

It's a favorite in my house....

If you don't like it, don't tell me so. :) You have my permission to deceive me. :):):)
